Getting Started as a Host

Modified on Fri, 13 Feb at 2:50 PM

Whether you have a fenced backyard, forest trail, open field, or an indoor training facility, you could become a Host and offer dog owners a safe, private place to let their pups run free. From nature walks to rainy-day play, Hosts provide a variety of spaces where dogs and their humans can connect, explore, and unwind.

Hosting is simple, flexible, and deeply rewarding—and you don’t need a “perfect” space to get started. If it’s safe, accessible, and dog-friendly, it’s welcome here.

Why Become a Host?

  • Earn passive income by sharing space you already own
  • Support your local dog-loving community
  • Set your own availability and rules
  • Enjoy flexible hosting with minimal upkeep

What Kind of Spaces Work?

Hosts offer a wide range of environments, including:

  • Fenced backyards
  • Open fields or meadows
  • Forest trails or wooded areas
  • Private beaches or lakeside spots
  • Farmland or acreage with natural boundaries
  • Indoor spaces (for rainy-day play, training sessions, or quiet social visits—just ensure it’s clean, safe, and dog-friendly!)
  • You don’t need acres of land or fancy amenities—just a space where dogs can move freely and safely, and their humans can relax.

Host Requirements

To ensure a great experience for Guests and their dogs, Hosts must:

  • Own or have legal rights to the property
  • Ensure the space is free of hazards (e.g., broken glass, toxic plants)
  • Provide clear directions and access instructions
  • Be responsive to booking requests and questions
  • Follow local laws and zoning regulations

Creating Your Listing

Your listing is your first impression—make it count!

  • Upload clear, well-lit photos of your space
  • Highlight unique features (shade, water access, trails, indoor areas)
  • Set your availability and pricing
  • Add any rules (e.g., leash-only zones, max number of dogs, indoor etiquette)

How Bookings Work

Once your listing is live, here’s what to expect:

  • Guests browse and book your space through the Off-Leash Network platform, filtering by location, features, and availability
  • You’ll receive booking notifications via email, with the option to accept or decline based on your schedule
  • Before each visit, Guests receive reminders and access instructions you’ve provided
  • After the visit, Guests can leave reviews to share their experience and help boost your visibility
  • Guests pay when the booking is made—no chasing or invoicing required

It’s simple, streamlined, and designed to give you full control while keeping things tail-waggingly easy.

Payments & Fees - When you Get Paid

We believe in transparency and fair compensation:

  • Hosts receive payouts via Stripe monthly
  • Off-Leash Network charges an 18% fee on all bookings
  • The breakdown of platform and financial fees are clearly outlined with each booking under details — no surprises, no hidden costs
  • On your Host Dashboard you’ll always see your earnings and booking details

Optional Enhancements for Hosts

Want to make your space extra special? These small touches can delight Guests and encourage repeat visits:

  • Add benches, shade structures, or agility equipment for comfort and enrichment
  • Offer water bowls, dog-safe treats, or seasonal surprises
  • Create a welcome sign or Host bio to personalize the experience and build connection
  • These extras aren’t required—but they’re a great way to stand out and show your love for the community.

Safety & Etiquette

We encourage Hosts to:

  • Provide poop bags and waste bins if possible
  • Post signage for boundaries or restricted areas
  • Communicate any wildlife or seasonal concerns
  • Offer tips for first-time visitors

Reviews & Visibility

Positive reviews help build trust and attract more bookings:

  • Guests can leave a review after each visit
  • Hosts with consistent, high ratings may be featured in search results or community highlights
  • Responding to feedback shows you care and helps build long-term relationships
